Tennis

clashoftime-small.jpg

Creativity is required in all aspects of life, sports included. I’m a great fan of tennis and have seen this sport evolved from the days of wooden racket to graphite racket. That to me is innovation to make the sport more competitive and dynamic and it is more glaring with the application of state of the art technologies. You just have to search the Net to find out how extensive they are especially on the Wimbledon Open, Paris Open, Australian Open and the US Open, all the four Grand
Slams.

In the recent Clash of Times exhibition match in Shah Alam, Samprass said “I didn’t try (to serve volley) which is what I do. I played to my style but technology has changed the way the game is played. It is sad such style is almost extinct but it’s the evolution of tennis”.

Actually there is a connection between tennis and MACRI. Some of you may know that my other abbreviation for MACRI is Maria Sharapova, Andre Agassi, Kim Clisters, Roger Federer and Ivan Lendl, the tennis greats of our time. As an ardent tennis player, I am convinced that creativity and innovation can be ignited via this game too or any other sport for that matter! Most corporate organizations focus their corporate social responsibility activities on environment, education and sports. So I see great possibilities and opportunities for us to reach out to them with our very own creative and innovative proposal. So if you’re a great fan or player of any sport at all, please put on your thinking caps whether you have any good ideas to be proposed!

Since my particular interest is in tennis, maybe this is good opportunity to also find out if there are any of you interested in the game of tennis too. Maybe we should get together and bounce some ideas on “innovative ideas in tennis”. And we can surely do that over a tennis game as well. The good news is that both the court and the tennis balls are offered FOC by a tennis enthusiast who is also a MACRI member. Maybe this is a golden opportunity for us to make a good start towards the formation of MACRI Tennis Club! Remember the old saying “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a first step”. So if you are interested to sweat it out by playing tennis, please indicate your interest by leaving your particulars with Ramesh Pillai, the Executive Secretary of MACRI at 03-6201 1928, 017-882 8302 or ramesh@macri.com.my

I look forward to hear your response or at least your comments. Thank you for being patient to allow time to think of innovative ideas in the area of sports.
